Avocado Toast in Lucknow? Overflow Coffee Has Been Doing It Right

There’s a cafe in Golf City that most people driving past on Shaheed Path have probably missed. It doesn’t announce itself loudly. The signage is clean, the space is calm, and if you haven’t heard about it yet, you’re about to.

Overflow Coffee is the kind of place where you sit down for thirty minutes and somehow end up two hours later, halfway through your second coffee, wondering if you should just order again. The food is the kind that makes you photograph it before you eat it, not because you feel obligated to, but because it actually looks like something worth photographing.

The avocado toast, specifically, is worth talking about at length.

What’s Actually on the Toast and Why It Works

The Avocado Toast at Overflow Coffee is priced at ₹675 and is listed as recommended on the menu, which turns out to be accurate rather than just optimistic menu copy.

It comes on sourdough; real sourdough, with enough structure that it doesn’t collapse under the weight of what’s sitting on top of it. The base is avocado puree, smooth and properly seasoned. On top of that: balsamic cherry tomato, whipped feta, spiced apple chutney, and pickled onions. It arrives with dips, a side salad, and potato salli on the side.

The combination sounds like it might be overcrowded, but it isn’t. The balsamic cherry tomatoes bring acidity that cuts through the creaminess of the avocado. The whipped feta is salty and light rather than heavy. The pickled onions add a sharpness that keeps the whole thing from going flat. And the spiced apple chutney, this is the one most kitchens wouldn’t attempt, has a warm, slightly sweet quality that works far better alongside avocado than you’d expect going in.

Every component earns its place. That’s rarer than it should be.

The Second Toast – Which Is a Different Problem Entirely

If the classic is what you order the first time, the Sundried Tomato & Avocado Toast at ₹600 is what gets you back through the door.

Same sourdough base, but from there it goes in a completely different direction. There’s a sun-dried tomato jam at the bottom, concentrated and deep, with the kind of intensity that comes from tomatoes that have been coaxed rather than rushed. On top: sliced avocado, goat cheese, dried cranberries, sesame seeds, and roasted pumpkin seeds.

What makes it worth ordering is the texture. The seeds and the cranberries against the softness of the avocado and the tang of the goat cheese. It’s the sort of thing you notice consciously for the first bite and then just keep eating without thinking about it. The sun-dried tomato jam anchors everything; without it, this would just be a salad on bread. With it, there’s something more interesting happening.

The two toasts are different enough that choosing between them is a genuine dilemma, not a polite one.

What Else You’re Going to Order

The coffee here is sourced from Bloom Coffee Roasters, and it shows. The Pour Over at ₹300 is brewed by hand at your table. The barista will tell you what’s currently on, because the offering rotates. It’s one of the few places in Lucknow where “specialty coffee” means something specific rather than just a category on the menu.

For people who want something richer, the Pistachio Latte at ₹500 is made with pistachio praline and sweetened condensed milk, properly indulgent, and one of the better drinks on the menu. The Spanish Latte at ₹350 is the one to get if you want something between a regular latte and the pistachio. Oat and almond milk are available across the board as dairy substitutions, and the kitchen will use decaffeinated beans on request.

Beyond the toasts, the Truffle Scrambled Eggs at ₹350, eggs with truffle oil, cream cheese, parmesan snow, and rosemary potatoes are an excellent option for  breakfast plates currently in Lucknow. The Superfood Bowl at ₹550 is a quinoa base with avocado, charred broccoli, cherry tomato, candied pumpkin seeds, and a chickpea chilli crunch topping; it sounds virtuous but actually tastes like something you’d choose without being nudged toward it. The Shawarma Bowl at ₹500 is recommended on the menu and for good reason.

On the beverage side, they also stock kombucha from Atmosphere Studio, rotating flavours, fermented, properly made and specialty teas sourced through Anandini Himalaya Tea from estates across India. These aren’t token entries on the menu; they’re actually ordered.

If You’re Near Shaheed Path, This Is Your Cafe

Overflow Coffee is in Golf City, near Medanta Hospital off Shaheed Path. For anyone living or working in Sushant Golf City, Gomti Nagar Extension, or anywhere in the broader Shaheed Path corridor, this is one of the closest genuinely good cafe options in the area without having to drive all the way to Hazratganj or Gomti Nagar’s main stretch.

The space is premium without being cold. Natural light, clean interiors, the kind of quiet that makes it easy to work or to have a real conversation depending on what you came in for. The crowd tends to be professionals and people who have eaten at good cafes before and know the difference.
